Cost Optimization of Water Distribution Networks without Storage Tanks

This paper investigates the optimal design of water distribution networks without storage capacity using mathematical optimization. Both micro-genetic algorithm and hydraulic simulation network are used to find diameters pipes network. The single-objective function optimization problem is total cost capital costs piping pump, operating under fulfillment minimum nodal pressure requirements. An methodology, Genetic Algorithm for Pumps (GAPUMPS), minimize energy consumption. described procedure demonstrated in four case studies with or pumps. Three already established literature as traditional benchmark networks: two-loop network, three-loop centrifugal pump. results showed good agreement literature. this study obtained better, at least similar, number evaluations compared those other evolutionary algorithms reported
